With over two years to go until its rumored release date, it’s time for another check-in with Disney’s plan for world domination, “Star Wars: Episode 7.” EW caught up with the man of mystery himself, J.J. Abrams, for a couple of questions and there’s another casting rumor floating around.
First up, Abrams spoke to EW for a very brief — two questions total — conversation in which he lays out his modest goal for the film: “I would say we are working really hard to make a movie that feels as emotional and authentic and exciting as possible.” In response to a follow-up question about all of the unsolicited advice — *cough* us *cough* — online about the new trilogy, Abrams spoke about one comment that hit home: “I remember reading a thing somewhere, someone wrote about just wanting [the new film] to feel real; to feel authentic. I remember I felt that way when I was 11 years old when I saw the first one. As much of a fairy tale as it was, it felt real. And to me, that is exactly right.” So, no pressure.
Of course, it’s not a “Star Wars” update without some casting rumors and the guys at Latino Review, as always, don’t disappoint. According to the site’s sources, David Oyelowo and Michael B. Jordan are rumored to have both had meetings about an undisclosed role. Lando Calrissian’s son? Will the new trilogy just be “Muppet Babies” but with lightsabers and John Williams’ score? What do you folks think? Could the role be a character with a connection to a pre-existing character from the original films or is the role something completely different? Or does Jordan’s inclusion indicate a possible “Creed” crossover? We can only hope.
