'Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan' Super Bowl Spot: See The Future

This weekend, Dads everyone will gather around the television for The Big Sports Thing aka the Super Bowl. I honestly couldn’t tell you who’s playing in the match, but as far as this site is concerned, it’s all about the commercials. Movie studios will be spending big money to try and capture your attention during cheese dip refills, and same goes with a variety of big name brands who aim to make waves with celebrity fuelled commercials. But back to the Dads for a moment — you might want to tell him the game day spot for a TV show based on a character created by his favorite writer has arrived early.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” (incidentally, while there’s probably a legal necessity to put ‘Tom Clancy’ in front of the title, it’s awkward as hell) stars John Kraskinski as the titular desk jockey turned field agent, who sees some bad shit go down, and has to ponder his life morosely in the shower. It’s a standard scene for this sort of drama. Here’s the official synopsis:

When CIA analyst Jack Ryan stumbles upon a suspicious series of bank transfers his search for answers pulls him from the safety of his desk job and catapults him into a deadly game of cat and mouse throughout Europe and the Middle East, with a rising terrorist figurehead preparing for a massive attack against the US and her allies.

Co-starring Wendell Pierce and Abbie Cornish, “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” hits Amazon in August.
