'Mother Nature': Jamie Lee Curtis Signs Deal With Blumhouse To Write & Direct The Climate Change Horror Film

After experiencing box office success with the release of their 2018 collaboration, the reboot-quel “Halloween,” it appears that actress Jamie Lee Curtis is ready to make it official with Jason Blum and his Blumhouse production company.

According to Deadline, Jamie Lee Curtis and her Comet Pictures production company have entered into a three-year, first-look deal with Blumhouse to release a variety of film and TV projects. And right off the bat, the actress has lined up her next film, titled “Mother Nature,” which is a climate change horror film directed by Curtis, who is also co-writing with Russell Goldman.

“I’m 61 and my motto now is: ‘If not now, when, if not me, who?’” said Curtis. “I’m excited to have a creative home to explore my own ideas and others. Jason and his team have made me feel welcome. Comet is ready to bring these stories to screen life.”

Jason Blum added, “Jamie is a force of nature and was a real partner on Halloween. So it’s both an honor and incredibly apt that she’s making her first feature film as a director with ‘Mother Nature.’”

In addition to 2018’s “Halloween,” Curtis is lined up to star in the two Blumhouse-produced sequels, “Halloween Kills” and “Halloween Ends.” Most recently, she starred in Rian Johnson’s Oscar-nominated feature, “Knives Out.” She’s also lined up to star in the upcoming film, “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” from the Russo Brothers and the directing duo known as Daniels.

It’s unclear when we might see “Mother Nature” begin production, but with Blumhouse, films get developed, produced, and released in pretty quick succession, so even though the actress has a number of projects lined up, we could be seeing Jamie Lee Curtis’ new horror film sooner rather than later.
