'Girls' Producer Jenni Konner Gets Called Out, Once Again, For Defending An Alleged Sexual Predator After She Signs Big Overall TV Deal

Two days ago, it was announced that “Girls” writer-producer Jenni Konner signed a big multi-year deal with Fox 21 Television (via THR) to develop multiple TV projects for the studio. The initial report highlighted Konner’s accomplishments and how her signing was yet another big deal given to producers in this age of peak TV. However, for actor Harold Perrineau, the announcement was upsetting, given the producer’s unsavory history involving an incident with his daughter, Aurora.

For those that don’t remember, back in 2017, during the initial surge of the #MeToo movement, actress Aurora Perrineau went to the police and accused “Girls” writer Murray Miller of sexual assault. At the time, Konner, along with her “Girls” co-showrunner Lena Dunham, defended Miller.

Konner and Dunham released a statement saying, “While our first instinct is to listen to every woman’s story, our insider knowledge of Murray’s situation makes us confident that sadly this accusation is one of the 3 percent of assault cases that are misreported every year. It is a true shame to add to that number, as outside of Hollywood women still struggle to be believed. We stand by Murray and this is all we’ll be saying about this issue.”

Eventually, Dunham would write an essay apologizing for defending Miller and said that it was wrong to disregard the claims made by Perrineau. However, Konner never released a public apology for standing by Miller. Eventually, the charges against Miller were dismissed due to the statute of limitations. But that isn’t stopping Aurora Perrineau’s father Harold from making sure news of Konner’s deal doesn’t overshadow the producer’s lack of apology.

Harold Perrineau minced no words when criticizing the news that Konner signed a big deal with Fox 21. He tweeted, “You aware she still hasn’t apologized to my child after publicly shaming her and lying about having any knowledge about my daughters assault? And that the LAPD determined Miller had sexual contact with a minor, but that charge was out of statute?”

This tweet was met with many supportive comments from fans commending the actor for standing up for his daughter, and once again, bringing light to the incident that Aurora Perrineau allegedly faced while working on “Girls.”

In response to someone’s words of encouragement, Aurora Perrineau tweeted, “Sending love to you. Thank you.”

As of this writing, Jenni Konner has no responded to the tweets and her Twitter hasn’t been active since May.
