Jennifer Lawrence Says She Hopes To Direct & Star In Comedy ‘6 Little Numbers’ Which She Co-Wrote With Kim Caramele

There is an ever-growing pipeline of actors getting behind the camera as directors (Scarlett Johansson being a prime and timely example, as her film “Eleanor The Great” debuted in 2025). As the previous stigma lessens by the year (wild to think, at one time folks balked at the idea of famous actors switching things up), another high-profile actor is hoping to stretch their legs in that role, as Jennifer Lawrence is talking up a new project that could end up seeing her helming it, making her feature film directorial debut with a comedy titled “6 Little Numbers.”

The plan would also be to star and co-write the script with creative partner Kim Caramele, the writer and producer best known for her collaborations with her sister Amy Schumer on “Inside Amy Schumer,” “Trainwreck,” and “Life & Beth.”

Lawrence revealed the project during a chat with Josh Horowitz for his podcast “Happy Sad Confused,” which had a live stage iteration as she revealed her aim to direct the gestating comedy when directly asked about her desires to get into that side of the industry.

“[Kim Caramele] and I have been writing this movie ‘6 Little Numbers,’ and it’s funny, I think it’s funny. And I would theoretically star in it and direct it.”

“Just so embarrassing if it doesn’t go well,” Lawrence added while highlighting the nauseating feeling toward the idea (assumed to be connected to anxieties of a first-time director).

Making a funny film her directing debut shouldn’t be entirely shocking, despite Lawrence is mostly primiarily known for her dramatic and event film work, she isn’t a stranger to the world of humor with Adam McKay‘s end of the world satire “Don’t Look Up,” the raunchy balls-out comedy “No Hard Feelings,” and multiple projects with David O. Russell, like with the Oscar-winning Best Actress performance in “Silver Linings Playbook” that certainly allowed her to have plenty of comedic moments/dialogue.

Another comedic project Lawrence is involved in alongside Emma Stone, with a solo Miss Piggy” movie for Disney that sees a script being penned by Cole Escola, the creator and star of the hit Broadway show “Oh, Mary!.” Focusing on the beloved “Muppets” character, who is also coming back for a new Disney+ special coming from Seth Rogen and featuring popstar Sabrina Carpenter, should give the desire for that new movie a boost in the arm.

We’d, of course, be super curious to see what comedic talent Lawrence would want to have surrounding her among the cast in “6 Little Numbers,” but we’ll have to be patient, as it sounds like nothing is terribly set in stone.

You can listen/watch that full exchange between Lawrence and Horowitz below. Next up for Lawrence is the Martin Scorsese ghost flick “What Happens At Night” that starts shooting this year, and reunites with her “Don’t Look” co-star Leonardo DiCaprio.
