Jesse Eisenberg Highlight Virtues In 5 'Peppa Pig' Episodes When Asked About His 5 Favorite Films

We’re going to pause the daily discussion of coronavirus and the pandemic’s effect on everything you love and hold dear for just about 10 minutes today. Why? Because we have an interview with actor Jesse Eisenberg that is worth your time and will hopefully put a smile on your face as you deal with the stresses of working from home when your company doesn’t have the right protocol to do such things and your kids are home from school treating this outbreak as Spring Break 2.0.

What makes a good “cult” movie? Is it a film that flies under the radar and finds a small audience that fully embraces it when the world at large couldn’t care less? Is it some independent film or foreign film that might be critically-acclaimed but didn’t find the mass appeal that the new Marvel Studios movie did? Or maybe, as is the case with Jesse Eisenberg and his interview with French outlet, Les Inrockuptibles, you find cult status in something that others just write off as silly.

In the below video interview, Eisenberg, who is out there promoting “Vivarium” (a film that will likely gain a cult following in the years to come for its stylish visuals and incredibly strange story), was asked to pull together a list of his five favorite cult films. And while you can only imagine the weirdness that Eisenberg (never mistaken for someone that typically plays nice during an interview) may come up with, we assure you that you aren’t expecting anything he says.

Without giving anything away (because you really just need to watch the video in its entirety), the actor is able to talk about “French odors,” Nietzsche, welfare policies, and the plight of man in subjects that many would (stupidly, apparently) write off as “children’s entertainment.” Maybe he’s reading too deeply into a subject matter that is much more surface level than he realizes? Or perhaps we’re all just idiots and Eisenberg is onto something? You decide.
