Jessica Chastain To Star As A Suicidal Artist In Upcoming Drama 'Losing Clementine'

Jessica Chastain continues to be one of the very best actresses working today. Even in films like “It: Chapter Two,” which was a major box office hit but not the critical darling that the first film was, Chastain brought a solid performance, especially for a horror film about a killer clown. But for her upcoming project, “Losing Clementine,” it appears that the Academy Award-nominated actress is going back to her adult drama comfort zone with a film that appears to be a showcase for her talents.

According to Deadline, Chastain has signed on to star in the upcoming film “Losing Clementine,” which will be directed by Argentine filmmaker Lucía Puenzo. The film will follow Clementine (Chastain), an artist that has decided to end things. After flushing her meds, she gives herself one month to complete her bucket list before everything ends. Along the way, she uncovers the truth about the tragedy that befell her mother and sister and must come to terms with it. “Losing Clementine” is written by “Better Call Saul” scribe Ann Cherkis, based on the novel by author Ashley Ream.

As mentioned, Chastain was most recently seen in the horror sequel, “It: Chapter Two,” as well as the superhero abomination “Dark Phoenix.” And the actress isn’t slowing down anytime soon, with new films like the superspy team-up film “355,” the action-thriller “Eve,” and the biopic “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” all coming in the next year or so.

Puenzo is probably best known for her last directorial effort, “The German Doctor,” which debuted at the Un Certain Regard section of Cannes in 2013. Most recently, she was credited as a writer on the film “The Unseen.”

There’s no timetable for the film yet, but as mentioned, it might be a little bit, as Chastain is a busy actress.
