Keanu Reeves & Alice Eve Talk 'Replicas,' Stuntwork Recognition & More

It’s only January, and already 2019 is shaping up to be a solid year for Keanu Reeves. Not only does it mark the release of his latest Sci-Fi film “Replicas,” but “John Wick: Chapter 3” and “Toy Story 4” are also looming on the horizon. And it’s not just Reeves who’s carrying all the momentum, his “Replicas” co-star Alice Eve is riding high off of her recent addition to “Iron Fist” Season 2 (RIP) in which she gave a layered and nuanced performance as a killer with split personalities.

In their latest film “Replicas,” Reeves plays William Foster— a somewhat mad neuroscientist who’s on the brink of a scientific breakthrough that will allow him to download the consciousness of a person and upload it into the body of a clone. Eve plays his wife Mona, and after a tragic car accident kills her and their children, William sinks further into madness defying every natural law in an attempt to resurrect them. Foster soon finds himself way in over his head as a greedy corporation looking to exploit his breakthrough is hot on his tail, and the physical laws of science serve him a sweet dish of karma.

During our conversation, we discussed how the actors themselves would utilize the technology in “Replicas” should it be available to them and if John Wick would take advantage of it to resurrect his wife and dog. Eve touched on getting into the mindset of a person with split personalities in “Iron Fist” and Reeves gave his thoughts on the much-needed and overdue recognition of stunt choreography at the Academy Awards.

Directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff (“Traitor,” “Hollywood Palms,” episodes of “Homeland” and “The Brave“) “Replicas” opens wide today. You can check out the video interview with Reeves and Eve below.
