'The Outfit': Mark Rylance, Zoey Deutch, Dylan O'Brien & Johnny Flynn To Star In 'Imitation Game' Writer's Directorial Debut

Unfortunately for studios, there’s no algorithm or tried-and-true formula for creating a great film. And though we can’t predict the future of the upcoming crime drama, “The Outfit,” the formula of adding an all-star cast and writer Graham Moore seems like a good start on the path to success.

According to Deadline, “The Imitation Game” writer Graham Moore is set to make his directorial debut with the upcoming crime feature, “The Outfit,” produced by FilmNation and Focus Features. And to make it even more interesting, he’s bringing along actors Mark Rylance (Oscar-winning actor from “Bridge of Spies”), Zoey Deutch (“Flower,” “Zombieland: Double Tap”), Dylan O’Brien (“The Maze Runner”), and Johnny Flynn (“The Dig,” “Emma”) along for the ride. “The Outfit” is said to follow the story of a British tailor (Rylance) that finds himself in Chicago and hired to make expertly tailored suits for a local crime family.

“If you’d told me years ago, when Johnathan and I were first dreaming up this story, that I’d get to direct my first film with a cast as exquisitely talented as Mark, Zoey, Dylan, and Johnny, I’d have said you were nuts,” said Moore. “And honestly, if you’d said that back then, you might have been. This film is such a deep labor of love for me and our whole team, and I could not ask for better partners than our friends at FilmNation and Focus.”

FilmNation CEO Glen Basner added, “A truly great film starts with fantastic writing, and we’re thrilled to have Graham’s talent drive this film to its full potential as a highly entertaining crime drama. We couldn’t think of a better home for this film than with the talented and like-minded team at Focus and can’t wait to gear up for yet another production during a time when our industry needs great films more than ever.”

As mentioned, “The Outfit” marks the directorial debut for Moore. In addition to being the acclaimed screenwriter behind “The Imitation Game,” he’s probably best known for his novels, “The Holdout,” “The Last Days of Night,” and “The Sherlockian.” Moore co-wrote “The Outfit” alongside writer Johnathan McClain.

No release date has been set for “The Outfit,” but production on the crime film is expected to begin in March.
