Martin Scorsese's 'The Age Of Innocence' & More Coming To Criterion

With Daniel Day-Lewis saying farewell to the acting game after “Phantom Thread,” you might be feeling an absence in your cinematic life. Well, this spring, The Criterion Collection will help you fill the void.

The boutique label has announced their March 2018 titles, and leading the pack is Martin Scorsese‘s “The Age Of Innocence.” The director’s underrated adaptation of Edith Wharton‘s novel, which also stars Winona Ryder and Michelle Pfeiffer, will come with a fresh 4K restoration, and new interviews with Scorsese, co-screenwriter Jay Cocks, production designer Dante Ferretti, and costume designer Gabriella Pescucci. There will also be a documentary about the making of the movie.

Keeping on the auteur (and literary) tip, Criterion will also put their stamp on Ken Russell‘s “Women In Love,” his adaptation of the novel by D.H. Lawerence. Of course, it’ll also come with a 4K restoration, two audio commentaries, a wealth of interviews, the short film “Second Best” based on another Lawrence story, and much more.

Volker Schlöndorff has another title added to the collection with “Baal,” his take on Bertolt Brecht’s play. The features include a strong bunch of interviews, and the movie will look crisp in a fresh, 2K restoration.

Lastly, John Murray Anderson‘s musical “King Of Jazz” will swing into the collection. This one is coming loaded with extras, including an audio commentary, video essays, and two short films –  “All Americans” and “Know Everybody and Everybody’s Racket.” It’s rare these days that a classic film gets such lavish treatment, including a 4K restoration, so if you want to see more of this kind of thing, get your wallet out.

Lastly, “The Passion of Joan of Arc” is getting a Blu-ray upgrade, making it look even better than before.
