The crime thriller “Kockroach” from “Captain Fantastic” director Matt Ross (currently shooting in Australia) has enlisted yet another talented actor to the call sheet, a film that is led by Chris Hemsworth (“Crime 101”) and Taron Egerton (“Apex”). They’ve cast “Boardwalk Empire” actor Brian Geraghty in the lineup, who is also known for roles in projects like “Jarhead,” “Flight,” “Ray Donovan,” “The Luckiest Man in America,” and was a supporting lead in Kathryn Bigelow‘s Oscar-winning military thriller “The Hurt Locker.”
That casting update hails from Deadline, as Geraghty not only joins Hemsworth and Egerton with the supporting cast featuring Zazie Beetz (“They Will Kill You,” “Deadpool 2”), Rachel Sonnett (“I Love L.A.”), and Alec Baldwin (“The Departed”). Ross directs from a script penned by Jonathan Ames, and is based on the 2000s novel of the same name by author William Lashner, which focuses on an outsider rising through the ranks of the criminal underworld in New York.

It is the mid-1950s, and Kockroach, perfectly content with his life infesting a fleabag hotel off Times Square, awakens to discover that somehow he’s been transformed into, of all things, a human. Step by step, he learns the ways of man, how to walk, how to talk, and how to wear a jaunty brown fedora. Led by his primitive desires and insectile amorality, he navigates through the bizarre human realms of crime, business, politics, and sex. Will he find success or be squashed flat from above? Will he change humanity, or will humanity change him?
Fans of the Taylor Sheridan universe of television shows will recognize that Geraghty was recently part of the cast of the “Yellowstone” prequel series “1923” alongside Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren.
