Michael Bay Wants To Direct Another 'Transformers' Movie, Says There Are 14 More Stories Already Written

Nobody has cried wolf about “Transformers” more than Michael Bay. He said he’d done with the series after “Transformers: Dark Of The Moon,” only to come back and make “Transformers: Age Of Extinction.” That was going to be his last, but then he decided to do “Transformers: The Last Knight,” after which he was finally going to stop making toy robots smash together. However, with the franchise continuing to grow, Bay has decided he isn’t done yet.

Chatting with MTV at CinemaCon, the director revealed some of the expansive plans behind the series. As you’ll remember, Paramount set up a writer’s room last year for the franchise, to cook up ideas for spinoffs and more, with the first picture to come out of that, “Bumblebee,” slated for release next year. But there are a lot more coming.

“There are fourteen stories written. And there’s good stuff. So, I would like to do one of them, though,” Bay revealed.

Don’t panic just yet. I’d assume that many of those are likely just at the treatment stage, but it does indicate that Paramount has a ton of material to work with, and I’d assume we’re going to be getting at least one “Transformers” per year until the sun burns out. And with every studio now chasing the ‘Rogue One’ approach of filling in gaps in franchise timelines, Bay also added that “Bumblebee” takes place earlier in the “Transformers” universe.

“Transformers: The Last Knight” opens on June 23rd.
