Michael Keaton & Stanley Tucci To Star In 9/11 Fund Drama From 'Kindergarten Teacher' Director

One of our favorite films of 2018 was “The Kindergarten Teacher.” Sadly, even with a show-stopping performance from Maggie Gyllenhaal (what else would you expect?), the Netflix film was largely left out of the awards conversation. Well, for the filmmaker Sara Colangelo, her next film is shaping up for yet another strong awards season push, thanks to an incredible true story and a couple of the best actors in the world.

Deadline is reporting that Colangelo is teaming up with Oscar-nominated actors Michael Keaton and Stanley Tucci for her next film, titled “What is Life Worth.” The film is based on the true story of Kenneth Feinberg, a powerful attorney that is assigned the task of leading the 9/11 victims memorial fund. Working for over three years, Feinberg had to deal with mountains of red tape and criticism to help distribute the money to the 9/11 victims’ families.

“What is Life Worth” is written by Max Borenstein. The film is described in the report as something in the same vein of “Erin Brockovich” and “Spotlight.” If that’s correct, then we’re definitely looking at a film that screams awards contender.

Colangelo is probably best known for her work on “The Kindergarten Teacher,” but before that, she made a name for herself with her directorial debut on the film “Little Accidents.”

Keaton is next going to be seen as the antagonist in the upcoming Disney live-action remake “Dumbo.” However, he’s probably best known, recently at least, for his roles in “Spotlight,” “Birdman,” and “The Founder.” Tucci, on the other hand, was recently seen in the films “The Children Act” and alongside Rosamund Pike in “A Private War.”

Filming for “What is Life Worth” is expected to begin in New York in April.
