Hope Davis has replaced Julianne Moore as Hilary Clinton in the HBO/BBC co-produced, Peter Morgan scribed and Richard Loncraine helmed “The Special Relationship.” Starring Dennis Quaid as Bill Clinton and Michael Sheen as Tony Blair, the film will chronicle the unique often complicated relationship between the two during the 1990’s. Moore pulled out due to scheduling conflicts. [THR]

Could Martin Campbell’s “Green Lantern” take the Marvel route and feature a cameo from other DC superheroes. When asked about a potential Man Of Steel cameo, scribe Marc Guggenheim simply replied: “Honestly, it changes on a daily basis. Whatever information I gave you today would be obsolete in a week, and maybe come back again in two weeks. And even if it wasn’t in flux at the script stage, it would still be constantly in flux because you can film it, put it in the original cut, and eventually it could end up on the editing room floor.” Interpretation: It’s in the script but is pointless so might get cut out. A poster for rockumentary “It Might Get Loud” has debuted. The doc chronicles the lives and musical experiences of three guitarists: Jack White of The White Stripes and The Raconteurs, The Edge from U2 and Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin fame. [RollingStone]

As if “I Am Legend” wasn’t enough, Francis Lawrence and Will Smith are set to re-team on “The City That Sailed,” a fantastical drama that centers a girl in London and a wish of hers to reunite with her father in New York that causes Manhattan to break away and drift across the Pond. If they do this, why not go the whole nine yards and cast Smith’s daughter in the lead? [THR]

We recently rued at the possibility of a new “Mortal Kombat” film on account of the franchise’s recently transition to Warner Brothers under the umbrella of Midway Games. Now Chris Casamassa, the actor who played Scorpion, has offhandedly announced that a new film will be being shooting on September. Surely WB know better? [MTV]

With Matthew Vaughn’s “Kick-Ass” set to hit theaters before the source comic series hits shelves, the comic’s creator and film’s producer Mark Millar has noted that the two may narratively veer in different directions and have been developed independently of each other. The film is also revealed to feature animated flashback sequences as a cheap gimmick homage to the comics. A new photo from the film has also been released – though only differs in angle from an older image. [MTV]

Raja Gosnell (“Beverly Hills Chihuahua”) is set to direct the live-action and animated infused adaptation of “Smurfs.” The film, which was scribed by Audrey Wells (“George Of The Jungle”), will be released in 3-D and 2-D formats on Dec. 17, 2010. Yawn, smells like a other money pit disaster in the making ala, “G.I. Joe.”

The first trailer for Neill Blomkamp’s “District 9” has been released.
