'MotherFatherSon' Trailer: Richard Gere Is A Media Mogul In New BBC Drama Series

Richard Gere has an incredible IMDB filmography, filled with award-winning roles. However, outside of some festival films, the actor hasn’t really had a major part in a big film since 2015’s “The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,” and let’s be real, that’s not something to rave about. That being said, Gere is taking his talents to the small screen, to star in the upcoming BBC drama series “MotherFatherSon.”

The series marks the actors first foray into TV since the mid-’70s when he had a one-off role in “Kojack.” But this time, Gere is front and center in “MotherFatherSon,” playing a media mogul that goes to the UK to visit his estranged wife and his son. However, while there, his son’s life spins out of control and the entire media empire is threatened.

Joining Gere in the series are Helen McCrory, Billy Howle, Sarah Lancashire, Sinéad Cusack, Danny Sapani, Joseph Mawle, and Ciaran Hinds. The series is written and created by Tom Rob Smith, who is probably best known for scripting the Emmy Award-winning series “The Assassination of Gianni Versace.”

“MotherFatherSon” will debut on BBC Two. BBC is hoping to sell the international rights to the series, but a US partner has not yet been named.

Here’s the synopsis, as well as the first trailer:
