Watch 3 New Clips From Eva Husson's 'Mothering Sunday' Starring Odessa Young, Olivia Colman & Colin Firth

One of the most anticipated films of this year’s Cannes Film Festival is “Mothering Sunday,” from filmmaker Eva Husson. Not only does the film feature a great cast, but the story is adapted from a best-selling novel about the drama and intrigue surrounding an aristocratic family written by author Graham Swift. And with the Cannes premiere around the corner, we now have first-look clips to watch to help hold us over until the film is finally released.

The cast of the film features actors such as Odessa Young (“Assassination Nation,” “The Stand”), Josh O’Connor (“The Crown”), Colin Firth (“The King’s Speech”), Olivia Colman (“The Favourite”), and Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù (“Gangs of London”). The film is directed by Eva Husson, based on a screenplay from Alice Birch (“Succession”). Husson is probably best known for her films, “Bang Gang: A Modern Love Story” and “Girls of the Sun.” Her most recent work has been directing episodes of “Hanna” for Amazon.

“Mothering Sunday” debuts at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and has already been snatched up by Sony Pictures Classics. Though an exact release date has yet to be announced. You can watch the clips below.

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

On a warm spring day in 1924, housemaid and foundling Jane Fairchild finds herself alone on Mother’s Day. Her employers, Mr. and Mrs. Niven, are out and she has the rare chance to spend quality time with her secret lover. Paul is the boy from the manor house nearby, Jane’s long-term love despite the fact that he’s engaged to be married to another woman, a childhood friend, and daughter of his parents’ friends. But events that neither can foresee will change the course of Jane’s life forever.
