Ric Roman Waugh‘s (“Shot Caller“) upcoming “National Champions” sets out to tell its own headline-worthy story with a movie about equal compensation for all college athletes.
“National Champions” focuses on star college football players LeMarcus James and Emmett Sunday and their quest for equal pay for all student-athletes. Once they declare to their coach, they have to confer with various brokers to race against time to see if they can follow through on the request. The movie begs the question of the worth of a one-star player.
