Hayley Atwell Confirmed For ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ & Ryan Reynolds Shows Up In New Deadpool Costume Among Audience [Comic-Con]

One of the big reveals during the Hall H panel for Marvel Studios at San Diego Comic-Con is finally confirmation that actress Hayley Atwell will indeed reprise the role of Peggy Carter in “Avengers: Doomsday.” There had been a longstanding expectation, via trade reports, that she would be coming back for the Multiverse event film coming out on December 18.

Another nifty thing that happened during the “Avengers: Doomsday” panel was actor Ryan Reynolds rocking a new “Deadpool” costume (potentially a hint to the “X-Force” movie?) among fans in the audience, although it doesn’t look like he’ll be showing up in the film despite various rumors suggesting that was going to happen. Reynolds had been teasing “Deadpool 4” ideas and a team-up film being in the works, but nothing has been announced (could be soon, stay tuned).

There was an assumption, as soon as it was revealed that younger Steve Rogers (played by Chris Evans) was coming back and the teaser trailer hinting at the version that saw him going back in time to be with Peggy, that those events might have caused the incursion, but they stopped short of showing Atwell in the trailers, adding to more questions. We’ll be curious to see if she’ll end up still founding S.H.I.E.L.D. like her other counterpart or potentially taking on the Captain Carter persona, as we saw in Sam Raimi‘s “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness” (sadly, killed off alongside other members of The Illuminati by Wanda).

We’ll be curious to see if other characters will show up in the film who haven’t already been announced, but there seems to be a limit on how long they can keep those kinds of secrets from the public. Lastly, they also dropped a new poster for “Avengers: Doomsday,” which you can check out below.
