"It went incredibly well, I'm really proud of it. It's a wonderful movie," Matt Damon recently told us about Steven Soderbergh's final (for now) film, "Behind The Candelabra." And with the wheels in motion for a Cannes Film Festival premiere next May, HBO is beginning a slow roll of promotion.
A couple of new images of Damon and Michael Douglas in the film have dropped, once confirming the costume department has done a bang-up job. Inspired by "Behind the Candelabra: My Life With Liberace" by Liberace's lover Scott Thorson, the film will find Douglas in the lead role, with Damon co-starring as Thorson, the performer's secret lover who engaged in a globetrotting romance with the star, before their relationship deteriorated into lawsuits, and Liberace's tragic death due to AIDS. And as always with Soderbergh, we don't expect the conventional biopic approach, so we'll be curious to see how he tackles his material.
No date yet, but "Behind The Candelabra" will air on HBO in 2013. [Bleeding Cool]
