With the forthcoming film, “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” as well as the recent news that Ryan Gosling is tapped to join Shawn Levy’s “Star Wars” film, you may have forgotten that Lucasfilm has been steadily developing a new sequel film, “New Jedi Order,” which is supposed to star Daisy Ridley. That’s because the film project seems a bit stalled. But it appears the film isn’t completely dead yet.

According to THR, George Nolfi has been brought in as a writer for the upcoming “Star Wars” film, “New Jedi Order.” Nolfi is the latest name to be associated with the film, but he’s definitely not the first. When the project was first announced, Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson were listed as the writers. Then came Steven Knight, the creator of “Peaky Blinders,” with a new script. And now, there’s Nolfi.
Nolfi is probably best known for writing “Ocean’s Twelve” and “The Bourne Ultimatum.” His most recent projects include “Elevation,” “The Banker,” and “Spectral.”
We still don’t really know what to expect with “New Jedi Order.” All we know is that the film is said to take place 15 years after the events of “Rise of Skywalker,” with Rey (Ridley) training a new group of Jedi. The film will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. The continued issues with scripting has led to delays for the feature film. Originally, it was thought “New Jedi Order” would be the next “Star Wars” project to hit theaters after the aforementioned “The Mandalorian and Grogu.”
Now, with the steady stream of writers coming and going, it seems like we’re still a ways off from seeing “New Jedi Order,” if it ever arrives.
