This September, Warner Bros. is set to release the next feature film from acclaimed filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson as he’s finally working alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in “One Battle After Another.” The project, which just landed a new trailer, is said to be loosely inspired by Thomas Pynchon‘s “Vineland.”
The rest of the cast of the pic features Benicio Del Toro (“Inherent Vice,” “The Phoenician Scheme”), Sean Penn (“Mystic River”), Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor (“Straw”), Chase Infiniti, Wood Harris (“The Wire,” “Dredd”), and Alana Haim (“Licorice Pizza”).
A vague logline for the pic from Warner Bros:
“When their evil enemy resurfaces after 16 years, a group of ex-revolutionaries reunites to rescue one of their own’s daughter.”
Anderson, of course, the director behind a string of critically praised films such as “Hard Eight,” “Boogie Nights,” “There Will Be Blood,” “Magnolia,” “Inherent Vice,” “The Master,” “Phantom Thread,” “Punch-Drunk Love,” and most recently with the coming-of-age period comedy “Licorice Pizza.”
We’re going to keep our fingers crossed that the movie can draw in a wide range of global audiences as studio heads Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy worked their magic to secure the high-profile cinematic release. The pair were seen as taking a big risk with Ryan Coolger‘s “Sinners,” and they made a mint on that bet with that original, creatively driven project. Hopefully, “One Battle After Another” is another crowd pleaser and critical darling.
“One Battle After Another” arrives in theaters on September 26, and you can view the new trailer below.
