'OJ: Made in America' Leads Nominees For 2017 Cinema Eye Honors

The 10th annual edition of the Cinema Eye Honors were announced today and “OJ: Made in America” and “I Am Not Your Negro” led the field with five nominations each. The Cinema Eye Honors are an independent organization that has been honoring the best in documentary filmmaking since 2007.

Both Ezra Edelman‘s ‘OJ’ and Raoul Peck‘s ‘I Am Not’ earned nods for the top prize, Outstanding Achievement in Nonfiction Feature Filmmaking, alongside Kirsten Johnson‘s “Cameraperson,” Gianfranco Rosi‘s “Fire at Sea, and Josh Kriegman and Elyse Steinberg‘s “Weiner. Last year, docs in this category included eventual Oscar nominees “Amy,” “Cartel Land” and “The Look of Silence. ‘Silence’ took the Cinema Eye Honor while “Amy” took the prized Academy Award a month later.

The winners will be announced on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in New York at the Museum of the Moving Image. The nominees are as follows:
