'The Old Guard' First Look Photos: Charlize Theron Leads A Group Of Immortals In Netflix's Action Film

While many of the blockbusters that were set to debut in 2020 are getting pushed until 2021, it appears that there might be at least one more coming out this year with Netflix’s upcoming film “The Old Guard.” And thanks to Vanity Fair, we have our first look at the new supernatural action film starring Charlize Theron.

In “The Old Guard,” Theron plays the leader of a group of immortal fighters that have kept below the radar for thousands of years, hiding their ability to be resurrected after they die. That changes when a new person (Kiki Layne) is discovered to have the ability of resurrection, which leads the group into a brand-new battle with someone that wants to find the source of their abilities.

“It was important to feel the weight of thousands and thousands of years on her,” Theron said. “The worst part for her is just feeling like she’s not doing anything. So what is the point, you know? She’s lost faith, not just in herself but in humanity. I think a lot of people can relate to that at this moment in time. We go through periods in life where we just look at the world and go, ‘Oh my God…’ You just feel like you’re pushing a rock up a mountain.”

As seen in the new pictures from the film, which is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the film has a great cast surrounding Theron and Layne. The rest of the cast includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Matthias Schoenaerts, Luca Marinelli, Marwan Kenzari, and Harry Melling.

Netflix hasn’t released an official date for when “The Old Guard” will arrive on its streaming service, but it’s believed to be late-2020.
