Paul Bettany Reportedly Will Star In David Gordon Green's Cambridge Analytica Film

This October, David Gordon Green is set to release his upcoming horror sequel, “Halloween Kills.” And then next year, he’ll release “Halloween Ends.” But before you start to write the filmmaker off as just a horror director, his next film is set to tackle the corruption of Cambridge Analytica, and it appears that he’s found his leading man— Paul Bettany.

According to Observer, Bettany is reportedly set to star in the upcoming, untitled film which will be directed by Green and tell the story of Cambridge Analytica, which garnered headlines for its use of Facebook-derived personal data. The film will follow consultant Christopher Wylie, who was hired by Cambridge Analytica CEO, Alexander Nix (Bettany), to help lead the data collection initiative for the company.

In addition to Green being involved, the film is set to be produced by Joe and Anthony Russo as part of their AGBO production company. The screenplay is reportedly written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who have previously worked with the Russos on quite a few projects, including all of the directing duo’s work with Marvel Studios.

Obviously, in recent years, Bettany is probably best known for his work on the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the voice for Jarvis and the man covered in tons of paint and prosthetics as Vision. He’s set to reprise his role as Vision in the upcoming Disney+ streaming series, “WandaVision.” He also recently appeared in the film “Uncle Frank.”

Production is said to begin once Green finishes work on his “Halloween” commitments. Apparently, the studio was eyeing a 2020 start date for filming, but with the coronavirus pandemic, it’s unclear if anything will have to be postponed.
