Molly Gordon has already assembled quite the cast sheet for her upcoming A24 comedy, “Peaked.” But the latest name to join the ensemble may have people levitating.
Deadline reports that pop star Dua Lipa will join Gordon’s sophomore feature in an undisclosed role. It’s one of several recent buzzy casting for “Peaked” since the year started: Laura Dern, Simone Ashley, and “Heated Rivalry” star Connor Storrie were added last month, while Emma Mackey joined to co-star opposite Gordon in January. Other cast includes Levon Hawke, Mitra Jouhari, Gabby Windey, Amy Sedaris, Owen Thiele, Jaya Harper, Emil Wakim, and Alex Consani.
“Peaked” follows two girls, renowned high school bullies, who return for their 10-year reunion to relive their glory days; a promising set-up for an ensemble comedy like this. Gordon directs a script by Allie Levitan, with A24 financing and producing alongside David Hinojosa, Zach Nutman, and Gordon; Levitan executive produces.
“Peaked” isn’t Dua Lipa’s first onscreen role, as she’s also had small roles in “Barbie” and “Argylle“. The Grammy-winner is coming off her 2024 album “Radical Optimism” and its accompanying world tour. All three of Dua Lipa’s albums have scored a #1 hit in the UK, with 2020’s “Future Nostalgia” earning her the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. She’s currently in the early stages of work on her fourth album, with a 2027 release most likely.
As for when “Peaked” will reach theaters, production begins next month, so expect a 2027 release.
