Pedro Pascal Reveals The True Name Of His 'Mandalorian' Character And It's Still Not Boba Fett

Yesterday saw the launch of Disney+ to the millions of people eagerly anticipating its release. And one of the programs that was at the top of the list for many subscribers is the first episode of “The Mandalorian.” While the show did introduce a number of new characters and a pretty interesting twist at the end, the first episode didn’t really give us much information about the title character himself.

Thankfully, in a new video (via ScreenSlam), actor Pedro Pascal is here to shed some light on the character. Of course, the main point of what he says isn’t who the Mandalorian is, but for many fans, it’s confirmation about who the character isn’t. Namely, don’t expect Lucasfilm to do a big twist that he’s either Jango, Boba, or some other Fett.

“The Mandalorian, whose name is Dyn Jarren, is your iconically cool, flawed, mysterious, loner gunslinger that harkens to the best of the samurai movies and westerns,” said Pascal.

“In talking with Jon [Favreau], I was asking him what I should be looking at?” added the actor. “I know he loves movies, I love movies. ‘What would you like me to watch?’ I asked him. He immediately brought-up Sergio Leone and Akira Kurosawa.”

If you want to have your own theories and speculation about how the film might tie in more explicitly to the canon established in the previous films, perhaps you should be looking at that little character that they introduced in the episode’s final moments?

“The Mandalorian” is now streaming on Disney+, with the second episode expected to drop on Friday.
