'Priscilla': Sofia Coppola Casts Cailee Spaeny & Jacob Elordi To Star In A Film About Elvis & Priscilla Presley

Earlier this year, we got Baz Luhrmann’sElvis” biopic, which gave audiences a musical drama filled with elaborate style and all the glitz and glam you might expect from the story of the King of Rock and Roll. Well, it appears the life of Elvis isn’t done on the big screen, with Sofia Coppola taking a shot at the story, with the upcoming film, “Priscilla,” which puts the spotlight on Elvis Presley’s wife.

According to Deadline, Sofia Coppola’s next film is “Priscilla,” based on the memoir, “Elvis and Me” by Priscilla Beaulieu Presley and produced by A24. The filmmaker has cast Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi to play Priscilla and Elvis Presley, respectively, in a story focused on their relationship through the years when the music icon was at the height of his career. And judging by Sofia Coppola’s filmography, we’re going to assume it’ll be a much more muted affair than the over-the-top version given to us by Luhrmann.

Spaeny is probably best known for her roles in films such as “Bad Times at the El Royale,” “On the Basis of Sex,” and “Vice.” She has also starred in acclaimed series such as “Devs” and “Mare of Easttown.” Elordi, on the other hand, is really only known for his role in “Euphoria,” which has quickly put him in the spotlight. Obviously, “Priscilla” is going to be a huge opportunity for both young actors.

A release date for “Priscilla” has yet to be announced, but the film is hoping to begin production later this fall.
