Rebel Wilson "Loved The Reaction" People Had To The 'Cats' Trailer & Is Happy With How It Looks

It’s been a long, long time since a trailer for a film got people talking as much as they did when the first look at “Cats” was released a couple of weeks ago. The film, which is a live-action adaptation of the popular Broadway show, features its cast in full-body fur, looking like the strangest anthropomorphic felines you might have ever seen. The reaction was polarizing (putting it mildly), with many saying that “Cats” looks like the scariest film of the year. However, according to one actress in the film, the comments about the trailer were perfectly fine.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan, Rebel Wilson was asked about the reaction that fans had to the imagery seen in the “Cats” trailer. And of course, what she thinks about the look of the film since so many people feel creeped out by the various felines in the musical.

“When the trailer came out, the response was pretty massive,” said Wilson. “There’s some people who were like ‘Oh my god’ because it is brand-new technology that’s CGI. I think people get confused because it’s essentially a dance movie in a lot of ways. So it really is all our own bodies. And yes, they’re covered in fur.”

She continued, “I think some people found it a bit creepy ’cause we’re people but we look a bit like cats dancing around. I loved the reaction. I think it was a bit polarizing and people will be super curious to see the finished product. What you got in that trailer was just some small samples of it, but it’s going to be such a big movie. And the cast is obviously incredible.”

Wilson is right about one thing — the cast is incredible. Joining her in full-body fur are Jennifer Hudson, Idris Elba, Ian McKellen, Judi Dench, Taylor Swift, and James Corden, to name several. The actress was also asked if she likes the controversial look of the characters in the film, including her own.

“Yeah. To me, it looked like how I thought it would look,” she replied.

“Cats” is directed by Tom Hooper and will arrive in theaters on December 20.
