“Jurassic World Rebirth” graces screens next week, and the film’s director, Gareth Edwards, was interviewed about his current feelings about working within the “Star Wars” universe, again, and his feelings on audiences embracing “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” years after its skaky reaction at release and troubled production.
When directly asked by Business Insider if Edwards would ever consider returning to the world of “Star Wars,” he bluntly responded with, “I’m very happy to move on and do my thing.”

Also, the upcoming 10th anniversary of “Rogue One” was brought up, and the film’s re-evaluation years after its initial, albeit rocky, release, as Edwards mused, “I don’t agree with it, but I appreciate it,” he said. “I’m very grateful that people say nice things.”
The “Rogue One” filmmaker continued, “What you have to keep in your pocket as you go through making other films is that it’s not about how people feel the day it gets released, it’s how people feel about it 10, 20 years from now. When you make a movie, you’re living at least a year from now, you’re trying to imagine what it’s like, all these decisions you’re making, what they are going to be like a year from now when this movie is released, what’s the audience going to think?”
Think what you may about “Rogue One,” it’s one of the main reasons Tony Gilroy was brought into the fold with his reworking of the film alongside the two seasons of “Andor,” all fans can be is grateful the stars aligned and we got these amazing “Star Wars” stories.
Since that time, Edwards made the artificial intelligence thriller “The Creator” from 20th Century Studios and was selected to direct Universal‘s “Jurassic World Rebirth,” which releases in theaters on July 2.
