And just when you thought some random Sigur Ros video would be the last time you saw young Shia LaBeouf go NSFW full-frontal… So young Shia wasn't kidding when he said he wanted to ditch the tentpoles and work on something chewier and with a bit more artistry, huh?
THR reports that "The Transformers" actor is in talks to join "Nymphomaniac," Danish director Lars Von Trier's two-part soft-core porn drama. Already starring Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgård, possibly Willem Dafoe and maybe Nicole Kidman in a small role, "Nymphomaniac" will follows the erotic adventures of a woman (Gainsbourg) from her youth to age 50, as recounted to her husband (Skarsgard). The two-part erotic drama starts shooting in September and evidently Lars is planning on releasing two different cuts of the picture, with one being more sexually explicit.
Again, LaBeouf wasn't joking around after he said he wasn't interested in coming back to "Trans4mers" and would rather chase after some more actorly pursuits. "Nymphomaniac" will be the 26-year-old actor's third independent film in a row. He has a leading role in John Hillcoat's "Lawless" coming out later this month and Robert Redford's "The Company You Keep" will make its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. And perhaps that Sigur Ros video was a tease of what's to come: LaBeouf proving to anyone who may doubt him that he's willing and able to take on challenging and provocative material. Good on 'em.
Producer Peter Aalbæk Jensen said earlier this year that "Nyphomaniac" hopes to debut at Cannes 2013. Wait, what about the persona non grata status? The producer said he hopes it'll all be water under the bridge by then. Hmm, we'll see. Maybe the picture gets accepted, but Lars is asked to stay home. Might not be a bad thing, to tell you the truth…
