While we still wait on announcements regarding the “Star Trek” film franchise, it appears ‘Trek’ is still doing just fine on the TV side of things. In fact, we have a new show that is expected to debut next year, “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.” And now, we have our first real look at the series.

As seen in the teaser for “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy,” the show is exactly what you might expect from the title. It’s a series that focuses on the lives and training of a new generation of Starfleet cadets. But perhaps most exciting for folks reading this now, the show features the acting talents of folks such as Holly Hunter, Paul Giamatti, and Tig Notaro.
The full cast includes Sandro Rosta, Karim Diané, Kerrice Brooks, George Hawkins, Bella Shepard, Zoë Steiner, Holly Hunter, Tig Notaro, Robert Picardo, Oded Fehr, Mary Wiseman, Gina Yashere, and Paul Giamatti. The series is showrun by Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau. Kurtzman is heavily involved in all of the “Star Trek” TV series that have debuted on Paramount+. So, it’s no surprise to see him as a co-showrunner here.
An exact release date has yet to be announced, but the series is expected in early 2026. You can watch the teaser below.
