You may remember, a couple of years ago, when Warner Bros. Discovery was canceling projects left and right for tax write-off purposes. The most famous example of this was “Batgirl.” However, one project that was initially cancelled eventually survived. That project is the live-action/animation hybrid film, “Coyote vs. Acme.” And now, we get our first official look at the film.
Cancelled back in 2023, “Coyote vs. Acme” immediately drew support from filmmakers and actors in Hollywood. This is because the film was reportedly already completed and ready to go when it was shelved by WBD. Reports soon followed about the studio telling other studios like Netflix, Amazon, and Paramount that the film was not for sale. However, things would change earlier this year. Eventually, Ketchup Entertainment was able to close a deal for the sale of the film, with the thought to release it in 2026. And that’s where we stand, as of today.
Now, thanks to a panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, we have a first look at some images from the film, including a poster.
Here’s the synopsis for the film:
The film centers on Wile E. Coyote as he takes legal action against the Acme Corporation for the countless faulty products that have hindered his relentless pursuit of the Road Runner.
The cast for the film includes Will Forte, John Cena, Lana Condor, and Tone Bell. “Coyote vs. Acme” is directed by Dave Green. The filmmaker is probably best known for his previous films, “Earth to Echo” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.”
In addition to the first look, we also have an official release date—August 28, 2026. You can see the new images below:
