'The Boys' Season 3 Trailer: Sex, Violence & Butch Gets Super Powers

A year and a half after the bombastic and gory Season two finale (our review of the season you can read below), we have our first trailer for Season 3 of the Amazon series “The Boys.” Adapted from the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis, both the comic and the television series have become known for their no holds barred portrayal of sex, gore, and cursing in a genre often dodging all three. If they were crossing boundaries before, showrunner Eric Kripke and executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are about to delve even further than before.

Perhaps most notable is a bold new casting addition to an already stacked cast. Also, roughly a year and a half after his final appearance as Dean Winchester in the CW series “Supernatural,” Jensen Ackles reunites with Kripke (the creator of “Supernatural”) to play Soldier Boy, the series’ take on a Captain America type super-soldier. Fans of the actor will get to see something different from his heroic stint in “Supernatural.” As Kripke said in an interview with Variety, “I think anyone expecting Jensen to show up and be a good guy, they will be disappointed.”

Alongside Ackles joining, fans of the show should be well-aware of the upcoming “Herogasm” episode featured in this upcoming season, which will focus on, you guessed it, superhero orgies. Kripke on Twitter stated of the episode, “From day one, everyone dared me to make this episode. CHALLENGE MET MOTHERFUCKERS.” Expect sticky situations to ensue.

Starring an ensemble cast with the likes of Karl Urban (who gets superpowers this season, see below), Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonzo, Chace Crawford, and aforementioned newcomer Jensen Ackles, Season 3 of “The Boys” will premiere on Prime Video on June 3rd. Watch the new trailer below.
