According to Variety, Lulu Wang is teaming up with Riz Ahmed to develop a new comedy series for Amazon titled “The Son of Good Fortune.” The series is based on the novel by Lysley Tenorio and follows the coming-of-age story of an undocumented Filipino teen being raised by his former B-star actress mother in the San Francisco Bay area. The series is being written and produced by Andrew Lopez

Wang is probably best known for her most recent feature, “The Farewell.” But ‘Good Fortune’ is not her first experience in the TV realm. All that to say, “The Son of Good Fortune” has all the makings of a truly exciting series. With Wang, Ahmed, and Lopez teaming up to tell his coming-of-age story, Amazon Prime Video might have something special on its hands.
