'Disclaimer': Alfonso Cuaron To Write & Direct A New Apple Series Starring Cate Blanchett & Kevin Kline

Apple TV+ is finding itself to be a bit of a niche streamer. Obviously, we don’t have a ton of hard numbers to go off of, but that in and of itself is telling. If Apple was close to competing with the streaming big dogs, the studio would be on the rooftops shouting subscriber numbers of viewing hours. The truth is, Apple TV+ just isn’t there yet, but it’s definitely not for a lack of trying. As seen in the cast and crew pulled together for the upcoming “Disclaimer” TV series, the studio has no problem pulling in A-list talent for exclusive projects.

According to THR, Apple has signed Alfonso Cuaron to write, direct, and produce a new TV series titled “Disclaimer.” Not only that, the series has already cast Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline in the lead roles. As was stated above, there’s no lack of talent over at Apple, that’s for sure. The series is based on the novel by Renee Knight and follows the story of an investigative journalist (Blanchett) who has made a career out of outing the transgressions of big institutions. However, her life gets thrown into chaos when a book appears at her house and has her as a main character, revealing the journalist’s darkest secret. Kline is set to portray the author of the book.

To say it’s exciting to see Cuaron, Blanchett, and Kline team up for a mystery thriller series is a severe understatement. Cuaron is, hands down, one of the best filmmakers working today, having proven it with films such as “Gravity,” “Y tu mamá también,” “Children of Men,” and most recently, “Roma.” Blanchett has been nominated for seven Oscars and has taken home two trophies. Kline is no slouch either, having really broken out with his role in “Wild Wild West.” Kidding, obviously. He’s an Oscar-winner dating back to his role in “A Fish Called Wanda” and has been a mainstay in Hollywood since.

No release date has been set for “Disclaimer,” but it’s easily going to be one of the most anticipated series of the next couple of years.
