Tom Holland Says 'Spider-Man' Franchise Doesn't Need A Sex Scene: "No One Wants To See Peter Parker Have Sex"

Let’s be real, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is devoid of sex. Sure, there’s plenty of love and the occasional passionate kiss, but overall, you never get to see the heroes save the universe and then hop into bed with each other. For some fans, this is a bummer. For example, one of the most talked-about aspects of the recent “Eternals” film from Marvel Studios is how there is actually a love scene. No, it’s not anywhere near graphic and is still plenty chaste, but it exists. But don’t go into the new film, “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” expecting to see another Marvel hero going to bed with a love interest.

Speaking to Yahoo! Entertainment, Tom Holland and Zendaya talked about how the ‘Spider-Man’ franchise should be a sex-free endeavor. In fact, the two believe that no one wants to see Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, exploring his sexual desires.

“I don’t think it’s appropriate for the ‘Spider-Man’ franchise,” Holland said. “We are still very much young kids. Should there be a future for this character maybe one day we will explore that. But at the moment, this is a film about celebrating friendships and young love.”

“Peter Parker is like a little brother,” Zendaya added.

Holland continued, “No one wants to see Peter Parker having sex! That would be horrible.”

As mentioned, just because Spider-Man isn’t having sex on screen, it doesn’t mean ‘No Way Home,’ or other Marvel films for that matter, are devoid of romance. Without getting into spoilers, a large part of the story of ‘No Way Home’ revolves around Peter Parker’s romantic relationship with MJ. It’s just that we don’t get to see them, uh, consummate the relationship.

And given the fact that Peter Parker and MJ are only Seniors in high school, that’s definitely a good thing. Tom Holland is right, no one needs to see that.
