'Vampires Vs. The Bronx' Trailer: Netflix's Horror-Comedy Feels Like 2020's Answer To 'The Lost Boys'

Sometimes, a film title is symbolic and not literal, recalling a feeling or specific moment in the film without giving away the plot. Sometimes, though, you just don’t have time for that sort of subtlety. And if you got a film about vampires attacking residents of the Bronx, why not just call it “Vampires vs. The Bronx?”

As seen in the trailer for the upcoming Netflix horror film, “Vampires vs. The Bronx” tells the story of, well, a battle between vampires…and residents of the Bronx. A more detailed description of the plot says that the new horror-comedy is about a group of young kids that live in the Bronx and discover that a new real estate development is hiding some supernatural secrets, as the gentrification of the neighborhood is now ushering in white people…and bloodsuckers.

Normally, with a title like that, you’d think this is a silly, probably throwaway film that you don’t have to pay much attention to. And while we can’t speak to the quality of the film, watching the trailer does bring some serious “The Lost Boys” vibes, albeit if you added some diversity and modern humor to the classic tale of kids on their own against vampires. And if this film can even capture half of the fun of Joel Schumacher’s classic ‘80s film (and seriously, there better be a shirtless man playing the saxophone), then we’re totally ready to enjoy every minute of this new film.

Here’s the relatively short synopsis for the film (as if the title left any room for ambiguity):

A group of young friends from the Bronx fight to save their neighborhood from a band of vampires.
