'A Vigilante' Trailer: Olivia Wilde Is Taking On Domestic Abusers One By One

The first moments of the new trailer for “A Vigilante” set the viewer up for what they can expect. First, you realize that this film is going to showcase a side of actress Olivia Wilde that you’ve never seen before. And second, this film is not shy in discussing the very real issue of domestic violence.

“A Vigilante” tells the story of Sadie, the titular vigilante, who takes it upon herself to help women who are stuck in abusive relationships. Of course, as you see from the beginning of the trailer, her methods in rescuing these women often involve violence against the abusers. But as the trailer continues, you realize that this isn’t some film that just shows abuser after abuser get the shit kicked out of them. No, filmmaker Sarah Daggar-Nickson, who wrote and directed the film, is also showing the psychological effects that this type of abuse can have on people.

We see a group therapy session with women recounting their past experiences. There’s also a scene that shows Sadie, in one of her various disguises, distraught in her car as the trauma of what she’s been through takes over.

Overall, this is a film that looks to be something that film fans will want to take notice of. Olivia Wilde is known for taking some interesting roles, and this one is no different. Plus, as a directorial debut, Daggar Nickson is showing that she has something distinct to say about a very real issue. Joining Wilde in the cast of “A Vigilante” are Morgan Spector, Kyle Catlett, C.J. Wilson, and Tonye Patano.

“A Vigilante” debuted at last year’s SXSW Film Festival. The film will be available on DIRECTV on February 28 and hits theaters and on demand on March 29.
