The Creators Project, an initiative aimed at promoting the work of artists using technology to “push the boundaries of creative expression,” has just dropped a 13-minute fashion short film for Rodarte helmed by Los Angeles-based commercial photographer/director Todd Cole.
Entitled “This Must Be The Only Fantasy,” the film features Elijah Wood in a cameo-like appearance that is perfectly suited to his status as an icon of the fantasy genre. It also features young model Sidney Williams as the main character who encounters a series of fantastical creatures during her peregrination in a seemingly ordinary suburb. Model Guinevere Van Seenus also makes an appearance as a fairy.
Produced in collaboration with the Rodarte fashion house, this short film delves into the core themes that inspired their 2013 Spring Collection, namely 1980s video games and fantasy role-playing games. However, you don’t have to be interested in fashion to appreciate the film’s surreal atmosphere, slick visual effects and bewitching score by dream pop group Beach House.
