You can tell a lot by a person by their "Top Five," whether it’s books, records, or in the case of the upcoming Chris Rock comedy, hip hop artists. That simple list does some of the heavy lifting for character development in the movie, while also providing some big laughs and this new clip that highlights a small part of one of the movie’s best sequences.
Sitting around the living room of some family members, Rock’s André Allen, a celebrity comedian at a crossroads, joins in the discussion about favorite rappers. It’s lively stuff, and believe me when I say in the movie it’s even better. This nicely captures the energy of Rock’s film, which he both wrote and directed, while the cuts to Rosario Dawson‘s face tease at the heart that’s just under the surface.
"Top Five" opens on December 12th. Watch below.
