Starting with a preview in the Phase One boxset, Marvel has been efficiently building up to the first trailer for “Thor: The Dark World” with a poster and fresh stills in the last few days. And now it’s officially here (after partially leaking late last night), and yes, it’s bringing the epic.
“Game Of Thrones” vet Alan Taylor directs the sequel, which wastes little time teasing and instead gets right to the good stuff including Natalie Portman‘s Jane Foster in some real danger, the evil Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) doing his thing, and perhaps best of all, Tom Hiddleston practically stealing the show with his hair alone. Loki has always wavered between being menacing and just plain campy, but here he seems to be a real foil to his brother, and it will be interesting to see how that duplicitous dynamic plays out. So all told, it looks like the ante has been upped considerably, with even Asgard looking rather less gaudy than it did in the first film.
