Watch: Scrat Heads To Space In New Trailer For 'Ice Age: Collision Course'

nullThey’ve never had anywhere near the crossover appeal of the Pixar movies, or even something like "Shrek” or "Despicable Me,” but if you have a kid, or were one in the 2000s, you’ll likely be very familiar with the Fox and Blue Sky’s “Ice Age” franchise. Running since 2002, the adventures of various prehistoric mammals have racked up four movies and nearly three billion dollars worldwide (plus probably at least the same in merchandise and home-video sales), with the third movie, ‘Dawn Of The Dinosaurs,’ ranking as the sixth top-grossing animated movie ever.

As such, it’s unsurprising that the train keeps moving, with a fifth film, ‘Collision Course‘ hitting theaters next summer, and a new trailer’s just arrived. Once again, the marketing’s predominately focused on that rat thing trying to fuck an acorn or something, but it does reveal that the plot will be taking the franchise into space, which is in no way a signal of a series that’s out of ideas.

Franchise veterans Ray Romano, Denis Leary, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Simon Pegg, Keke Palmer, Wanda Sykes and Jennifer Lopez return, with Stephanie Beatriz, Adam DeVine, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Max Greenfield, Jessie J, Nick Offerman, Melissa Rauch, Michael Strahan and Neil deGrasse Tyson joining the cast this time. As your kids will surely be reminding you, the movie opens on July 22nd, 2016. Watch the trailer below.
