Chloe Grace Moretz Joins Luca Guadagnino’s ‘Suspiria’ Remake With Dakota Johnson & Tilda Swinton

It was just a few weeks ago that Chloe Grace Moretz announced she was clearing her movie slate, and re-evaluating her choices as she looked ahead in her career.

“I’m just becoming more picky and particular about what roles I’m choosing. I think as an actor you have a huge opportunity to find yourself through the roles that you choose. I think it’s my time, right now in my life, to figure out who I am and what I am and what I want and what this industry means,” the actress said. “Why not sit back, slow down, realize I’m 19 and go, ‘Hey, let’s make stuff that really, really hits hard with who I am and helps me figure out what it means to be a 19-year-old actor who is just doing her thing.’ ”

Well, so much for slowing down, because Moretz has signed up to star in the long brewing remake of the giallo classic “Suspiria.” Luca Guadagnino will be helming the picture, which will also bring back his “A Bigger Splash” pair Dakota Johnson and Tilda Swinton, along with Mia Goth (“Nymphomaniac“), in the movie that’s now gearing up to start shooting this month. While David Gordon Green was at one point attached to direct, and then to produce, it seems he’s moved on entirely, with a whole new team of producers, and David Kajganich (“A Bigger Splash,” “True Story“) now writing the script.

The movie has a firm greenlight, with Amazon Studios financing the picture, and slated to distribute it worldwide. No word yet on who will be scoring the movie, but it will certainly be a big task to follow in the footsteps of Goblin. And of course, it’ll be interesting to see Guadagnino has to bring to the horror classic, and it should be noted, Dario Argento has not been consulted for this redo. [Variety]
