'Daddy's Home 2' Trailer: Mel Gibson Joins The Family

Mel Gibson‘s comeback hasn’t quite hit the mainstream. While “Hacksaw Ridge” saw the actor/filmmaker back in the awards spotlight, he remained behind the camera for the grisly WWII drama. Thus far, in front of the camera, he’s mostly stuck to genre flicks like “Blood Father,” “Get The Gringo,” “The Expendables 3,” and “Machete Kills.” Well, now he’s hoping to be hugged by the public once again with a little help from Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.

The “Lethal Weapon” star joins the duo in “Daddy’s Home 2,” along with a game John Lithgow. Yep, it’s a sequel to the surprise 2015 hit, and with more family, comes more problems. And while the casting of Gibson might rub some the wrong way, Wahlberg was game.

“I thought it was brilliant, the right choice,” he told USA Today. “Everyone was throwing names around for that. But for a guy who is cooler, a threat to Dusty, edgy in that way, it’s a great choice. Yeah, come on.”

Co-starring Linda Cardellini and John Cena, directed by Sean Anders and written by Anders and John Morris, “Daddy’s Home 2” opens on November 10th.
