Mel Gibson To Star In Action-Adventure Spy Flick 'Every Other Weekend'

Mel Gibson looks to be busier than ever. This summer saw the release of “Blood Father,” his next directorial effort premiered in Venice and will open this fall, and cameras are now rolling on “The Professor And The Madman,” the dictionary drama that sees him co-star with fellow controversial bad boy Sean Penn. And looking to continue to pad out his resume of B-movie vehicles, Gibson has another action flick on the horizon.

The actor has signed up to star in the action-adventure film “Every Other Weekend.” Set to be directed by Benjamin Rocher (“The Horde,” “The Squad“) the movie will follow a teenager who thinks his Dad is a real spy, even though he simply works in the agency’s IT department. Boooooring. But wait! It turns out gramps (played by Gibson) is a real deal agent, and he has to jump in when his son and grandson get into some trouble.

Sounds pretty ridiculous, but then again so did “Blood Father,” and that turned out to be pretty decent as far as things go, thanks to Gibson turning on his still potent star power, and chewing scenery when required. So maybe this will be similarly entertaining. Production is slated to begin before the end of the year. [THR]
