Ryan Reynolds Says ‘Logan’ Could Be An Oscar Contender

Hollywood types making grand and sometimes outrageous Oscar predictions are nothing new (for example, Vin Diesel talking up trophies for “The Fate Of The Furious), but geez, we’re only a few days into 2017, and this year’s Oscars aren’t even over, and Ryan Reynolds is already making lofty proclamations about “Logan.”

The actor recently took some time out of doing a victory lap for “Deadpool” to talk up the Wolverine movie with Variety, and Reynolds predicted that James Mangold’s film could make awards season history where previous superhero movies have failed to contend beyond special effects, production design, and make-up categories.

“ ‘Logan’ looks like a movie that might break that glass ceiling,” Reynolds said. “I know first-hand that it’s amazing. I’ve seen some of it. It’s mind-blowing. It relies a lot on character.”

Well, time will tell, and yes, there was that time “The Dark Knight” was nominated for 8 Oscars. So yes, anything is possible, but there’s still a long year to come, with a ton of potentially great movies landing in theaters. But hey, never hurts to dream big, right?

“Logan” opens on March 3rd.
