13 Films To See In June: ’28 Years Later,’ ‘F1,’ ‘Materialists,’ ‘Ballerina’ & More

28 Years Later” 
It’s been over twenty years since viewers’ first run-in with “fast zombies” in “28 Days Later,” and Danny Boyle is returning to the franchise again. The film takes place 28 years following the events of the Rage virus, where survivors have now found ways to exist among the infected. The film follows a father and son as they leave their protected island, where they discover more about the outside world: Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, and Jack O’Connell star. 
Release Date: In theaters June 20 via Sony Pictures. 

Elio” 
The latest original Pixar film takes to the stars with “Elio.” The film, directed by Madeline Sharafian, Domee Shi, and Adrian Molina, follows a space fanatic who obsesses over aliens and finds himself beamed up to an organization with representatives from all across the galaxy. Yonas Kibreab, Zoe Saldaña, Brad Garrett, and Jameela Jamil star.
Release Date: In theaters June 20 via Pixar.

Bride Hard
Rebel Wilson stars in the comedy “Bride Hard” from director Simon West (“Old Guy.”) Based on the screenplay from Shaina Steinberg, the film follows Wilson as a secret agent who is the maid of honor at her childhood best friend’s wedding where she must save the day after it’s take over by mercenaries. Anna Camp, Anna Chlumsky, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Gigi Zumbado, Stephen Dorff, and Justin Hartley star. 
Release Date: In theaters June 20 via Magenta Light Studios.

F1 The Movie
Brad Pitt stars as a Formula One driver who, following a crash, is forced to retire in “F1 The Movie.” Directed by Joseph Kosinski (“Top Gun: Maverick”)  and written by Ehren Kruger, the film follows Sonny Hayes as he’s asked to come out of retirement to mentor a rookie prodigy. Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, and Javier Bardem star. 
Release Date: In theaters June 27 via Warner Bros. Pictures. 

M3GAN 2.0
The internet sensation returns with “M3GAN 2.0.” Directed by Gerard Johnstone and written by Johnstone and Akela Cooper, the film follows M3GAN being rebuilt to combat a humanoid military robot attempting an AI takeover (a timely and popular narrative these days). Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Amie Donald, and Jenna Davis are all reprising their roles. 
Release Date: In theaters June 27 via Universal Pictures.
