Original 'Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' Star Noomi Rapace Meeting With McG & Brett Ratner, Needs Better Career Advice

Does the fact that Rooney Mara has, after months of rumors and scuttlebutt, taken the lead role in David Fincher’s “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,” mean that we get to take a few weeks off from typing the name ‘Lisbeth Salander?’ Of course it doesn’t. Noomi Rapace, who played the sociopathic computer hacker in the original, rubbish Swedish adaptations (and was admittedly the best thing about them), took herself out the running for the remakes, but she still seems to be interested in pursuing a Hollywood career.

Heat Vision are reporting that Rapace is in LA this week, having signed with UTA some time ago, to meet with a number of studio executives and producers, including representatives from Paramount, Warner Brothers and Di Bonaventura Pictures, as well as filmmakers like Ridley Scott, Brett Ratner and McG (plus former studio executive Joe Roth, who doesn’t get to be called a filmmaker anymore after directing “America’s Sweethearts.”)

In all likelihood, these are what’s known as ‘general meetings,’ which directors and producers use in case of prospective future projects, rather than for anything specific. Unless you’re Ratner, who probably uses ‘general meetings’ as a kind of dating service. However, it’s possible that Rapace may be being considered for particular projects; McG’s “This Means War” or Ridley Scott’s “Alien” prequels spring to mind. Of course, Matthew Vaughn still has 350 main characters left to cast in “X-Men: First Class,” so there’s always that one…

In any event we hope that UTA points her in the direction of some better talent, because Vaughn and Scott aside, that list of directors leaves a lot to be desired.
