Between helping fellow Blue Tongue Film members out on films such as “Animal Kingdom” and “Hesher” and writing his second feature film described as a road movie with crime and horror elements, Australian director Nash Edgerton has managed to continue his ventures in music video directing — the latest being a collaboration with The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers.
“Crossfire” is the first single from Flower’s debut as a solo artist, on which he looks to be going all out, bringing in thespian Charlize Theron for a video that features ninjas, explosions, torture scenes and Theron kicking ass. Edgerton also recently helmed the latest music video for Australian electronic duo Empire Of The Sun in a single setting, extravagant New York-set production starring the band’s frontman Luke Steele and almost “Mad Max 4” actress Teresa Palmer (she had to bail on production because of a scheduling conflict).
Edgerton’s debut film “The Square,” meanwhile, has been steadily expanding through the U.S. since April with fellow collaborator David Michod’s Sundance starrer “Animal Kingdom” — which we loved and described as a gripping and atmospheric Greek tragedy dressed as an Australian family-crime drama — due out on August 13th through Sony Pictures Classic.
