It’s official, up-and-coming Swedish actress Alicia Vikander — who will be everywhere in 2015 and has already appeared in "Son Of A Gun," “Ex Machina,” and “Testament of Youth” — has bagged a leading role opposite Matt Damon in the upcoming fifth ‘Bourne’ film. No word on who she will play, but Vikander was trying to squeeze in both this ‘Bourne’ film, directed by Paul Greengrass, and “Assassin’s Creed,” co-starring her current boyfriend Michael Fassbender. But she couldn’t fit both, so Vikander has elected to star in the already-established franchise.

There is still so much Vikander to come in 2015, including potential Oscar bait performances. There’s Warner Bros’ summer spy offering “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,” and she’ll hit the awards season with Tom Hooper’s “The Danish Girl,” the Weinstein Company’s “Tulip Fever,” and John Wells’ “Adam Jones” starring Bradley Cooper. Somewhere unknown in the mix is Derek Cianfrance’s “The Light Between Oceans” opposite the aforementioned Fassbender and Rachel Weisz, which wrapped a few months ago. You can probably count that one out as a 2015 proper theatrical release, but it could turn up on the fall film festival circuit unless the producers deem it too crowded and save it for next year.
Julia Stiles will return to the ‘Bourne’ series as well, but there’s no word on regulars like Joan Allen, David Strathairn, or Scott Glenn. Viggo Mortensen has evidently been offered a villain role, but whether he takes it is anyone’s guess as Mortensen turns down stuff all the time to chase whatever fancy suits him in the moment.
